At the end, you have to turn and head up the peninsular on a well marked path to get to the villa.
The villa’s terraced gardens are a treat for the eyes. Its interior is just as impressive. You’ll see antique furniture and art collections from the last owner, explorer Guido Monzino.

Buy a day pass if you’re planning multiple trips on regular boats within the Golden Triangle – it’s way cheaper than individual tickets and you get to skip the ticket lines.
Book your ferry or boat tickets in advance during peak season. They can get crowded, especially on weekends. If you have a car and want to use it everywhere you go, you can load it onto the ferries called “Traghetto”. You can find schedules for all shuttle boats here.
You can also buy your tickets online using the link above as long as you don’t have a car to load and you only plan to use the normal boats. If you have a car or want to take one of the fast catamarans or hydrofoils, you have to buy your tickets only at the ticket offices at each dock. The most popular stops can have long queues, so I recommend that you get to the ticket line at least 20 minutes before your boat is scheduled to depart.
Don’t think of ferries and boats as hop-on-hop-off boats. You can plan to visit a maximum of 2 towns in a day, but some towns are worth even a full day.
Train Travel
Varenna-Esino station is your main rail hub in the Golden Triangle.
